Get ready for Empire State Ride Long Island. Here’s everything you need to know about this new event.
1. It's a one day event
This year’s Empire State Ride Long Island is taking place on Saturday, July 24 at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park in the Town of Oyster Bay.
2. it's a cycling fundraiser
Empire State Ride Long Island is on a mission to change the world. This fundraiser is a partnership between Catholic Health – St. Francis Hospital and Heart Center on Long Island and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, New York. Funds raised will support clinical trials and research to help Long Islanders and beyond batting cancer.
3. There are three routes
Choose between three routes that vary in distance, skill level and fundraising minimum.
- Suggested fundraising minimum: $250 for adults; $75 for youths
- Start time – 8:30 a.m.
- Route rides along the shoreline to Bayville and Centre Island
- This is not ideal for young children or trailers

- Start time – 8 a.m.
- Route explores the scenic rolling hills past Bayville through Locust Valley, Glen Cove and Old Brookville

- Start time – 7:30 a.m.
- Route is a metric century through Glen Clove, Sea Cliff and Roslyn Harbor to Port Washington to Roosevelt’s home at Sagamore Hill

4. Rally your friends and family
Bike rides are much better with friends by your side. Form a family or workplace team and ride together to make a difference.
5. There will be rest stops along the way
Fuel up and hydrate at the provided rest stops along each route.
6. you don't have to be a resident of oyster bay to participate
Even though ESR Long Island is taking place at the Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, you do not have to be a resident of the Town of Oyster Bay. We welcome all to come out for a day of riding in the sunshine and making an impact. And we are offering complimentary parking for all riders in the Long Island Railroad parking lot!
7. We have tools to help you reach your fundraising goal
No fundraising experience? No problem! Here at the Empire State Ride Long Island, our team will help all riders meet – and exceed – their fundraising goals. From social media and email tools to posters and more, you’ll hit that goal before you know it. And, as a small token of appreciation for all the good you’ve done, we also have incredible rewards for each milestone you hit.
8. COVID-19 protocols will continue to be evaluated
We are planning with what we know today and will adjust our plan as New York State and local guidelines change. We are continuing to monitor the situation and will make adjustments as July 24 gets closer to ensure the safety of our riders.
